Music Education Program
Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall, Mandeville, LA
Field Trips, Masterclasses, Musician Assembly Programs for local school classes & student civic groups

Since 2015, The Friends of the Dew Drop, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has presented over 60+ FREE music education programs to students at 43 different St. Tammany Parish PreK-12th grade schools.

Our JazzKids program enlists the services of some of the most critically admired musicians in South Louisiana to bring fun, educational music programs, in the form of assembly classes & masterclasses into selected St. Tammany Parish schools, both public & private. Past JazzKids professional musicians & educators include: Creole banjoist/guitarist Don Vappie, percussionist Jason Marsalis, pianist Tom McDermott, Blues guitarist Chris Thomas King, cellist Helen Gillet, trombonist Mark Mullins, Cajun fiddler Louis Michot, renowned classical violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg & many others. JazzKids programs take place mostly on campus and are developed in conjunction with the current curriculum of a particular class or grade level. Our more advanced masterclasses offer experienced music students participating in junior high or high school bands a more hands on environment for which a higher level of learning can take place.
