Music Education Program
Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall, Mandeville, LA
Field Trips, Masterclasses, Musician Assembly Programs for local school classes & student civic groups
We need your HELP! The Friends of the Dew Drop, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is now embarking on a new music education program aimed at education outreach for school children and student civic groups. Our goal with the new JazzKids program is to enlist the services of some of the most critically admired jazz musicians in the New Orleans area to bring fun, FREE educational music programs into selected St. Tammany Parish schools for the 2015-2016 school year.
Our spring programs will be underway soon! We are working with the St. Tammany Parish School system administrators and the following musicians have expressed interest in participating in this program: Preservation Jazz Hall Band, renowned bluesman & educator Spencer Bohren, pianist Tom McDermott and many others.
Consider making a donation TODAY! We are asking you to consider making a contribution to enable us to develop and maintain this sustainable budget to cover musician fees for their professional services. Every penny counts and your TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION and support means that this unique program comes to fruition this coming school year, 2015-2016. It’s that simple. In March 2015, we presented a successful, FREE educational program to 160 third graders from Woodlake Elementary. Renowned jazz pianist & composer Tom McDermott was on hand to perform and discuss the cultural influences that shaped the various styles of music made famous in New Orleans. It was a huge success and is just one of the programs we look forward to presenting again this year. Click here to see the full article.
